Long time no see...

Wow, it has been over a year since i last updated the blog...how time flies.. To recap, we have participated in several tournaments other then the usual weekly friendlies. The club has grown in size of its memberships, we have had held our first AGM and elected the new committee. Agro bank is still our base for Wednesdays matches and the performance on the pitch has been very satisfactory to say. Winning and losing matches are normal in football and i am proud to say that the members are really giving their best in every matches they played. In the end, it is important that we keep to the spirit of the game, fairness, respect to your teammates and opponents and play to your best that matters most. I wish to congratulate each and every of our club members for your contribution because without you guys, the club would not be where it is today.

Wed FC received a thrashing but ok mah!

KL Wed fc received a real thrashing today after Kajang Africans dominated play for much of the time.

Clear instructions was given by coach cum player Waynaldo to defend en-mass and exert pressure once they cross over the midfield line. Things got of well initially but off a through pass their left winger easily slotted the first goal after some 5 minutes of play. Undaunted, the defence line marshaled by Bullet Lee effectively closed down every gap and chances the Kajang team has. They ended up resorting to long range shooting which did not threaten Eric much. Wed FC could have equalised in the closing stage of 1st period when Dive Master Jason Lim let fly an American football style field goal in his attempt to shoot. 1-0 it ended.

Second period saw the introduction of President Long together with Boss Jason and Kepong Siong. The floodgate really opened up in this period as mistake after another saw Kajang African scored 4 more goals. As the juncture, a special mention to the official returned of our long lost son , Zitan Tan. Zitan was there to replaced fellow ACL Club member Waynaldo Lee mid-way through the second period. It has been 2 long year absence from football action for Zitan. Fireworks were exploding here and there signalling the return of the prodigal son. It was indeed a very touching scene and i thought i saw a few teary eyes around me or was it the huge dose of sweats dripping down the forehead of my eyes???

Zitan was quickly involved in some action and a few fake jump and header here and even a 20 meter bust down the right flank saw his made an unsuccessful cross. He has definitely not lost his competitiveness!

Third period started with us behind 0-5. With Bullet decided to call it a day, Gaga Sia and new partner Luan Luan Jao stand strong in the heart of defence. Although they did let in a goal, their partnership certainly need to be seriously considered for our next game. Who knows, this will free up Bullet thus allowing him to finally play his dream position of "freemen".

Eventually, we lost 6-0 but hey, this is not bad at all, our worst was a 9-0 thrashing earlier this year! Half a dozen only mah! As for others who read this piece, this Sunday marked the beginning of our Airplane league in Agro Bank. Manager will be Alan and Lingam. They will give you a call for match details.

New Team Badge for KL Wednesday FC

Introducing the new team badge for KL Wednesday FC. The design was courtesy of a friend - Chan (a former United FC player, which used to take part in KL Social Soccer League).

With the official registration of the club, KL Wednesday FC will adopt this design as our team badge.

African Nation Cup month

Well, April month was the month of African Nation cup for KL Wednesday FC. And why do i say that? For the obvious reason that we have play 4 different team of African ethnic background.

The first was against the Help Uninversity, followed by Serdang Africans, LimKokWing University and then yesterday Red Munich. Guess what, it wasn't surprise that we loss despite putting up a fighting performance. It was simply a case of David vs Goaliath for us. Regardless of the score (which was quick significantly big margin, average 4 goals a game with only the first game we lost by 1-3), we were outplayed in terms of skill and speed. The only department we easily outmatched them was our talks. Haha.

The old guys was just complaining to me why the hack we kept organizing matches against these kind of opponents, where we were simply dominated by them. Well, my kayu friends, it is now very difficult to find teams to play and when i realized we can easily get so many African teams, why not i save the trouble to make so many calls?

For a panadol relief to those who have develop African phobia, we have now managed to organize a game with MIB for next Wednesday. So, no more excuse that you can win. OK Kayu?

Approval from Registrar of Societies

Approval has been granted by R.O.S on the official formation of our club. It shall be named Kelab Bolasepak KL Wednesday (KL Wednesday Football Club).

Our clubhouse address will be in Kajang town center courtesy of our staunch supporter and member Mr. Jason Ng. The club "mengalu-alukan" any forms of support from members and wellwishers in terms of financial or non-financial support. Our president Mr Hew Fooi Loong has generously donated 2 units of air-cons to be installed at the clubhouse.Mr Gaga Sia is expected to follow suit by donating a pool table for member's recreation. Any other items such as chairs, tabls, desks , sofas, curtains are welcome as well. As the current premise is a vacant lot, any fixtures and fittings that will help to beautify the place are welcome.

We will also lauch a gotong royong to clean up the place and also repaint the venue.

Wednesday 1-0 Ipoh "Not" Veteran

It turned out that either our friend ah Ong was blurred or the opponent purposely misled us on their age. What to be expected as a friendly between veteran players became a young vs mature game. Yes, we are not old enough to be called old..in pornographic movies term, we are deemed to be "mature".

The slight drizzle at Kajang did not dampen our spirit for a great work out. By the time i reached there, we already have 11 very eagered "mature" guys wanted to play. Despite the fact that on the other end of the pitch we saw a bunch of young, fit looking guys warming up for the game, we continued to do our routine hisap rokok, blow water talk, all the while waiting for the refs to turn up.

The pitch condition is bad and dangerous to "mature" players. But what to do, we have reached there, might as well continue lah..

All in, the summary of the game was this: while the opponent seemed much faster, they lacked ideas on how to attack. As for us, we lacked the speed but compensated with good brain. So the game was a sea-saw battle concentrating major part of the on field action in the middle part of the pitch. Our only hope of taking the lead was wasted when Luan Luan Jao's John header found it wasy to the goalpost. Other than that, not much action.

One note to the game is the injury sustained by twin ah Chuen, he was injured when he wrong stepped himself and fell painfully on his left knee. He was in a lot of pain and had to be carried off. Initial suspicions could be his ligament or meniscus. We pray for speedy recovery for ah Chuen and will miss his service in the midfield.

The only goal of the match came off a combination of quick passes and intelligent thinking starting from ah Bao who pass to Waynaldo, who then whacked in a quick pass to Alan Lau, who then cleverly sent in a well weighted pass to Willy. Willy used his muscle power well to waived off the on rushing defender and scored in a one on one situation.

KL Weds 0 - 0 JLJ

As usual, our young opponent who's average is 23 came at 4pm and were already started to warm up. Fyi, JLJ is currently playing in the top division of the KLFA league and has qualified to the Quarter final round. There were about 22 of them in attendance. Before our match started, a slight drizzle help to cool off the weather and ground making the ground a bit too soft.
We were equally ready for a big match as well and the new look team, led by newly SELF appointed coach a.k.a The Special One , Waynaldo was there to drill the players into top notch condition both physically and mentally. The emphasis from the 4-5-1 formation was apparently to absorb the expected waves of attacks from JLJ and relying on fast counter attack to score. Ball possession with patient build up were the keys to succeed in this game. The players were all motivated after hearing the pep talks from the special one and were eager to go out there and achive a good result.
The match started with JLJ coming to attack our defense line with venom. However, thanks to the teamwork and fighting spirit displayed, our guys were doing very good to contain them. In fact, we were equally dangerous whenever there is a chance to attack. Long man upfront Kenny Dog-lish was working his ass off giving chase to every ball like a mad dog. His display truly inspire his compatriots to work harder to close down on any gaps or space. JLJ found our defense too hard to break down and were only relying on long range shooting for luck. Certainly no luck for them and keeper Eric were having a somewhat easy time just looking for the ball to went too high/too wide off the goalmouth. 1st period ended 0-0.
2nd period resumed with the same script and our president shouted within a minute of play for substitution. We thought who made him angry and wanted to change so fast? Well, well, well, apparently the old joint of Tailoong got misaligned and causing him needed massage treatment from Pusat Kesihatan KL Wed FC in Seri Kembangan. Tailoong went off and Soonteck came in. We continued to play well as a very cohesive side and JLJ could do nothing to score. We have more chances to score in this period but several chances were wasted due to poor finishes and hesitation to shoot.
3rd periodl was the same old story as above and we managed to end with 0-0. Post match statistic from Gaga Sia indicated our total possession was 51% as compare to JLJ's 49 only.
The guys quickly wash up and head straight for our tema annual dinner at Sg Long..and what a night it was. Certainly great news for those going to Hangzhou in May. More reports on this trip to come..

First victory for the year 2011

Following our losses to Warriors on Sunday, we were back to our feet again today after beating KDN (Kementerian Dalam Negeri) 2-1. Despite the heavy rain and thunderstorm at 4pm which threaten to wreak havoc to our match, the rain somehow subsided and by kick off someone up there just turn off the tap (nearly) and it was game on.

The match didn't start until 6pm due to the whether condition. Funny thing is many of our younger generations didn't make it and what came was our golden oldies, a rough count before the game saw nearly 80 percent of the attendees being in the upper half of the 40s. A once in a blue appearance of Mr Jeffrey Yap was one of them.

As usual, the old engine need time to warm up and we took nearly 20 minutes to get settle down. We were lucky to not concede any goals as KDN missed a golden chance to score when defender cum midfielder Stanley failed to clear the ball early and was robbed of the ball. As the guy went one on one with Er Eric, his shot was managed to parry away by the extended arm of Er. We sort of woke up from the action and Yeo dully score off a beautiful lob catching their goalier off guard when he was way too far off the goal line. 1-0. Young boy David could have opened his scoring for KL Wed FC but his shot went straight to the goalie.

Second half resume with 4 substitution being made and this time the younger replacements in the twins , Ang and Jas were there to give an extra pair of lungs and legs to our team. Their addition bolster our fire power and in one of our fast break (and with the help of a pool of water), Kenny 88 was able to skip past the onrushing keeper to score in a wide open goalmouth. 2-0. KDN was trying hard to reduce the gap and they managed to pull one back.

We should have kill off the match with 2 goals but LLJ's header was flying wide while Twin ah Chuen was a second slower to follow up on a second ball to tap it in off a shot from Kenny. In the end, we won 2-1.

KL WEDS 2-3 Warriors

Sunday game report ;-

Good turn out and our opponent this time is the SSL Div 1 leader Warriors FC led by MP Lim (member of Parliment Lim, Thomas lah tu..). According to MP, his team is resting several key players and blend in with a few new players for selection.In theri rank is a top Kazakstan player named Dembayev.

Match were held at Kolej 10 UPM. Nothing much to write about this match as it was a lazy afternoon that kind of affected the mood and concentration of our guys. Warriors were more adventurous side and they were awarded with the opening goal in the first period off a lapse of concentration in the defence. 1st period ended with that score and second period resume with 9 new faces coming in. Play was better and more organized and we received a penalty when i can't remember who was fouled in the D box. Bullet stepped in and alamak..first time i saw him missed a spot kick . He drove it low to the right side only seeing the ball hit the lower post and bounced out. As we continued to chase the game, those at the outside were having some fun going for a 50 meter sprinting bet (Kenny, Xiam, John and Sia)..who won ah? We managed to level the score when Zul curled in a beautiful free kick. 1-1 second period ended.

3rd period ended with Warriors scored 2 more goals before we replied another through Xiam kia with a beautiful cross in goal.

As a prelude to the AFF-Suzuki Final, our guys all 22 of them came to receive their brand new Red KL Wed jersey in style. The unveiling of our new jersey came coincidentally with a friendly match against a group of Indonesians. They are students in UKM. We were kept waiting for them as most of them were having classes till 5pm and could only made in after that from the campus..

Guys were buys having a small kick-about just to fill time and around 550pm came the students in their bikes. Around 16 of them turned up and without wasting time they quickly "pasang kasut" and trooped onto the field to get ready. We picked our line-up based on who came first and 11 early birds got to start for the 1st period. Swee D, Bullet, Kenny, LLJ, Sia, Ong, Yeo, Soh, J Lee, CW Loh, Alan L.

Well, i would say the guys were somewhat uncomfortable to dress in red and our played was really nothing to shout about..to many times we hang on to the ball for too long and opponent who were much faster have ample time to close down any space. If we could play simple one two touches, and spread the ball early it will be a much opened game. We were quickly down 0-2 in the first period and heads were low as if we have lost the match. Came second period and with introduction of 9 new players there wasn't much improvement of the play either. We went further behind 0-3 after the 2nd period.
Then, in the 3rd, finally we managed to find our rhythm and this time we saw how players were running to create space for each other and quick passes were exchanged between our players. This certainly have kept the Indonesians at bay and from all the raids down the flank, we scored all three goals to level the score. LLJ achieve a hat-trick. He could have added a fourth only for his powerful header went inches wide.
Post match comment from Swee D and Big Loong - play the ball up fast and don't hold on to the ball too much as this will allow your opponent to close down any space. Possession football is necessary in case your opponent is faster and dominating play. Pass the ball faster when u see your friend has space.

Sg Ujong FC 1-6 KL Wednesday FC

This is a verbal report from our Cikgu while drinking kopi at Nyonya Kopitiam...

Game on Sunday 26th Dec at King George V ground Seremban. Our team were invited by Sg Ujong veteran fc for a friendly match and (as it was a long weekend, many guys were having prior arrangements already and can't make it) after much frenzy in searching for available veteran players, 13 made it to the trip. Not all were old "cock" though, we did have some young cocks in their 30s as well..namely keeper Fatty Chong , Luan luan jao John (LLJ) , Bao, Carlos (like Sia, come but did not turun padang), Gaga Sia (who said he is still 39 mah,,only a few days later baru 40), dato dribble Leks and fat boy Alan. The rest of the guys were Cikgu, Stanley, big loong, bullet, durian, misai choi, swee d and loh pet.

Here is the report. We started brightly and were dominating the initial proceedings. Our lethal striker, Stanley proved that he was still valuable to the team by opening the scoring with a thunderous shot. The net was almost broken due to the sheer power of his shot. He was celebrating wildly by taking off his jersey (and therefore received a card for the overboarded celebration). Cikgu couldn't remember who scored the 2nd goal for us, but after much thinking ,,,it was non other than Stanley who scored the 2nd. What a game Stanley had..bravo! Would he be able to score a hat trick? read on...

1st half ended with us leading 2-1. Leks Leong -Dato dribble of Wed fc , scored with a trademark of single handedly doing a Messi (messy) like performance, dribbling past 4 defenders and scored our third. Next came our other twin striker, the famous Alan fat Shearer of KL Weds fc. Alan L (yes, this will be the name printed on his brand new KL Wed jc) brought the ball all the way to the sideline and made a cut back..from there, he released a beautiful curve shot to beat the helpless goalie (who just stand there admiring how beautifully the ball flew in). ..

Subsequently, Cikgu when to take his shower knowing we have won the match with another 20 minutes to go..And when he came off the shower room..the scoreline has become 6-1. Rumours was, dato dribble and Alan L score one apiece. Well done guys.

Our boys were treated for a sumptuous dinner and karaoke session at the Royal Sungai Ujong club right after the match ended. It ended at midnight and we headed home then.

Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude for the hospitality and friendship shown by members of Royal Sg Ujong fc and hope to play them again in the near future.

The Biggest Defeat By MIB

Thanks to Micheal and we have a report on what went wrong in this match vs MIB.

Here you go..

- 18 players turned up. The players I know are - Ong, Bullet, Ah Piu, Soon, Kenny, David, both Twins, Big Loong, Bao, Loh Pet, Sia Gaga, Alan, Siam Kia, Stanley.
- The heavy rain stopped just b4 the game was supposed to start. The pitch was wet but playable. The game started at 5.40pm. It drizzled lightly for almost the whole match.
- The match was a tale of chances missed and chances taken. Both sides had almost equal no of chances but MIB took theirs well while we fluffed ours including 3 open goals and 2 one-on-ones.
- MIB started by scoring 2 early goals. The 1st was via a through ball which their right wing beat our left back to the ball and advanced towards Ong from the left angle. He shot but Ong saved and then managed to get up to push the loose ball away before any follow-up by the opponent. However, the ball didn't go far and their player got it, laid it up for another of their player to strike home. The 2nd goal, a hopeful 20yd low but hard shot to the bottom left corner, could and should have been saved by Ong if he had not assumed that it was going out (and i add here- so typical of the Ong as we know). Ong was surprised himself that it went in instead of out by the post. We hit back with a goal with a shot inside the 18yd box - can't see who scored bcos was at the opposite end.
- The 2nd period started with MIB leading 2-1. The 7 reserves went in, including Ah Piu, Big Loong and both Twins, determined to do well. However, within 5 minutes of the restart, MIB scored their 3rd goal from their 1st chance of the period. 2 more quick goals went in within 10 min from well taken chances. 5-1 to MIB.
- The 3rd period started with our best players taking to the field, determined to make amends. We had better possession of the ball and with that created numerous chances which went wasted. It was not meant to be our day.
- Our guys really have to improve on their composure and finishing when presented with goal scoring opportunities.

The Resurgence of Malaysia Football II...

This is what saudara Michael said and i quote "As for Msia to qualify for the World Cup, after reading these articles and seeing our state of Msian football, we need:
- to have the full support of the Govt - it must come from the top.
- all involved in football to plan n develop our own Msian style of football.
- to spend at least RM500mil on (i) having at least 15,000-20,000 coaches (A, B or C licences) trained in the right way, (ii) grassroots and youth development, (iii) regular local, regional and international tournaments for all age groups, etc
- to wait 20-25 years for qualification bcos only the current batch of 5-10 yo kids can be properly trained and do it. The current players from 12 to 25yo are not good enough and it is too late for them as the current coaches are not good enough yet.

The resurgence of Malaysia football?

Having watched how the Harimau of Malaysia played in the AFF-Suzuki cup, it sort of made me wanted to write a short piece on the future of our nation's football hope. I like what i saw in this team here. Being a young side, the discipline instilled by Rajagopal was clearly seen. Their defence against the Vietnamese at Hanoi was good. From what i recalled, Malaysisn players do not like to go in hard for a challenge. What i saw the other night was refreshing, players willing in to go in for sliding tackles, which many Malaysian players nowadays do not have such technique (or they sayang their legs?). This sort of defending is important to breakdown the attacking move of your opponent, it kind of display to your oppponent the no-nonsence approach of you. No strikers would like to be treated it this way. This will be crusial when we meet the Indonesian in the finals again.
I personally believe the mark of our country's rise to greatness in football will have to start with one step at a time. If we can win this cup, that will mark a small step of achievement because ASEAN region is the first step out to go before we set our mind to be a powerhouse in Asia, then the world. We need to remember the last time we won a Senior tournament was the 1989 SEA games. Winning the SEA game gold medal recently(which is for under 23 ) is nothing to shout about. Show me that you can beat teams in South East Asia, followed by strong side like Iran, Japan, South Korea..then we will be recognized as a strong team.

Where are the Chinese footballer now

This is an article which i picked up 3 years ago on the internet..it was talking about the lack of Malaysian Chinese in the national squad and how it wasn't the case before then. The article was written in Chinese and how through the interview with Mr. Goh Ah Chai (he was the ex KLFA Secretary General), Mr Goh recalled and recounted the vast number of ethnic Chinese players that contributed to the past glory of the Malasysian team.

Current national squad do not have a single face of ethnic Chinese players (except one- the assistant coach, my friend Mr. Tan Cheng Hoe who was ex Kedah and National as well). We all can say whatever reason that lead to the current situation. In my humble personal opinion, social, political, economic and cultural factors have a big part to do with this scenario. Being a very pragmatic race, the Chinese will strive to make a living first before all else and hence sports has to give way when faced with such a choice. It is not that Chinese do not like football, i can tell you that. They are crazy just like others when it comes to football.

We can ask ourself how many of us with kids will want or foresee our kids make a living through the uncertain (at least that is how many view it now) road of professional football. Given a choice, it is easily the pursue of academic excellence that matter rather than sport. I myself will be one of the huge of Chinese parents who shared this feeling. Play for good health? Yes. For a career? No way..At least not now.

Sports culture in Malaysia is not strong here. Many see it purely as a way for recreation and unless the ways are done in the current structure of sports adminstration received massive revamp, it will stuck at this level for a very long time.

在最近刚刚公布的马来西亚国家足球队集训名单，连一个华裔球员都没有，显示大马华人足球进入前所未有的低潮。

足球是全世界最受欢迎的运动，在马来西亚也不例外，有人形容足球是大马的国球，并不过份，马来同胞对足球疯狂程度有目共睹，印度人与华人也不遑多让。

也许上个世纪80年代以后年生的后生小子，对大马华人足球认识不多，以为本地华人没有足球天份，又或者华人只是喜欢看，不喜欢踢，更有人悲观的认为，华人只是把足球当作赌球工具。

华人是否好赌，见仁见智，但可以肯定的是，足球与赌博风马牛不相及，足球只是单纯的运动，如果它与赌博拉上关系，也是外来因素强加下去，赌博与足球强身健体活动，是没有直接关系。上个世纪60至80年代，大马足球水平在亚洲属于顶尖水平，1972年慕尼黑奥运会与1980年莫斯科奥运会决赛圈，大马都成功出线，虽然大马未能取得世界杯决赛圈入场券，但是当时亚洲最强的韩国队，都非常尊敬大马，因为韩国人曾在世杯入选赛作客吉隆坡的时候，不敌大马。

当时大马足球的成功，是3大种族努力的成果，其中华人更扮演著重要的角色。

今时今日大马足球水平低落，造成的原因太多，华人不热衷踢球运动，可能只是其中一个因素，但有一点可以肯定的是，大马华人运动天份非常高，除了羽毛球与篮球，足球更是人才济济，六七十年代，当时华人球员名字，在亚洲掷地有声，如果他们迟生20、30年，也许有机会进军英超。

早期华人国脚如云
早期华人国脚如云，但今天还让我们熟悉已不多，大家印象深刻只是“头家”苏进安与“灵猫”仇志强等而已。

为了让后生小子认识多一点昔日华人名将，本报找来了大马华人足球权威吴永昌(Goh Ah Chai)为大家介绍。

吴永昌现为大马华人足球总会秘书，也是吉隆坡足总秘书，他在60年代末期与苏进安、王春华等人一起出道，但后来选择事业，没有朝向个人足球事业发展，最近30年，他一直活跃于足球圈，对本地足球，特别是华人球员，他更是了若指掌。

根据他的介绍，当年华人国脚非常有实力，门将早期首推仇志强、林芳基、黄金富，后期有林泉进与前几年病逝的王耀添等，后卫早期来自霹雳最多，当中包括前国家奥运队主力陈永雄的父亲陈国富与傅发泉等。

此外，还有后来在香港发展的古廉权、司徒金宝与苏进安等，这些铁卫都是至今还令人津津乐道。在80年代崛起著名后卫包括有徐金成与周少伟等。

三线精英齐全
中场方面，早期有王春华，即使年代已久，吴永昌仍对王春华出色个人技术印像深刻，其他还包括有有第一代头家之称的何永宁，来自雪兰莪、现在香港的陈融章，后期的有林长金、王康能、“沙登仔”叶伟伦、两名吉打人李健洪与郭金远等。

前锋方面，早期的有现为吉打队教练的许锡鳞、王富永、王金龙、林金连，后期则有黄才富、江汉明。

讲起陈年往事，永昌侃侃而谈，在他眼中，当年的国脚，才是真正的国脚，因为他们占据主力位置至少2、3年，同时当年国家队每一个位置，球迷们都了如指掌，不像现在，能讲出现役国脚名字都不容易，更何况位置。

全线进军香港
马来西亚与香港足球渊源极深，很多人都不知道，在上个世纪50年至70年代，大马与香港是亚洲足球最发达2个地方之一，大马有的是人才，香港是足球事业非常发达，球迷众多，成了大马国脚淘金的最佳地方。

大马华人进军香港的开山鼻祖是仇志强。仇志强今年58岁，1963年入选国家队青年军，15岁便成为国家队史上最年轻成员。在1966年至70年，仇志强连续5年当选为亚洲最佳门将。

1970年，仇志强来香港客串流浪队，其后为巨型班怡和重金礼聘，在仇志强穿针引线下，此后有不少大马华裔球员前往香港淘金，当中包括林芳基、苏进安、王春华、古廉权、黄金福、陈国良、叶志强、毕亚当、赵祥华、陈融章与李亚九等。

在港开枝散叶
早期在港找吃的大马华裔球员，有部份在当地落地生根，其中部份后来转当教练，当中包括林芳基、古廉权、黄金富与陈融章等。

林芳基担任香港多支著名球会教练，后来在愉园当领队，陈融章曾担任香港体育学院足球部教练，目前担任足球学院教练。古廉权目前在晨曦球会担任教练，曾多次当选香港最佳教练。

此外，在香港经历十多年光辉日子后，仇志强在1982年重回大马发展，并且加入国家队，但只是效力3年后便高挂球靴。此后，仇志强苦学多年转当高尔夫球教练，目前也是在港发展。

大马的华人，为推动香港足运作出不少贡献，香港球迷至今仍对仇志强经典演出津津乐道，他间接影响更多港人参与足球，林芳基与古廉权等则直接推动香港足球运动。

进军欧洲发展
除了香港，大马华人更向欧洲发展。80年代，林长金孤身前往欧洲发展，效力德国乙组联赛一支球会。去年，林灿耀前往英格兰甲组联赛球会伯恩茅斯试脚，可惜未被录用。

林长金目前转当教练，目前在德国发展，他目前担任德国班霸拜仁慕尼黑青少年队教练之一，月薪超过5万令吉。值得一提，林长金目前所考获得国际足联教练执照级别，在国内是高的。

开始走入低潮
上个世纪90年代，马来西亚足球开始走下坡，也是华人足球进入低潮时候。

90年初期暴发踢假球事件，几乎所有马来西亚顶尖球员都不能幸免，华人球员当然也受波及，有些面对长期禁赛，因而被迫提早退休，有些还因此身陷囹圄，鎯铛入狱。

马来西亚华人足球总会秘书吴永昌认为，1993年开始爆发踢假球事件，对大马足坛影响即深且钜，因为涉案的球员，都是当时国内最好的，当中包括华裔球员。

1994年广岛亚运会，又爆发国家足球队球员踢假球事件，政府此后雷厉风行，全力铲除球员贪污，但付出的代价是国家队从此一蹶不振。

世青最后一代
1997年马来西亚举办世界青年（20岁以下）锦标赛。大马足总积极备战，集中火力培训青少年球员，当时冒起的华裔球员主要包括有周志荣、陈永雄与林灿耀。林灿耀临阵因伤退出，无缘亮相世青赛。

志荣、永雄与灿耀后来转当职业球员。志荣先后为多州球队效力，包括槟城，永雄长期在霹雳效力，今年才转会去八打灵再也市议会，与奥运会队友灿耀再续前缘。

尽管这3人在联赛表现不俗，在却未能在国家队站稳阵脚，其中灿耀有多次因受伤，与国家队缘悭一面，他们落选的其他因素还包括未得国家队主帅欢心。

槟6虎将撑腰
90年代后期，在大马足坛上的华裔球员少之又少，但是在北马槟城，华人足球还有一片天地，来自霹雳后卫的朱允豪加盟槟城后，当时共有6名著名华裔球员，他们分别是朱允豪、杨文贤、黄国兴、梅国雄、黄河源与黄家伦。

当时槟城在华裔六虎将带领下，踢得虎虎生威，1998年更一举拿下大马顶级联赛冠军。

英主教练忽视
上个世纪90年代后期，国家队教练由阿都拉曼担任，这名本土教练相当欣赏华裔球员，他给了不少华裔球员机会，槟城六虎除了杨文贤外，其他都有入选国家队，灿耀与志荣当时刚刚出道，未有资格入选。

不过在2000年初期，英格兰人哈里斯顶替阿都拉曼后，华裔球员在国家队再也没有地位，虽然世青赛三虎灿耀、志荣与永雄都有进入国家队实力，但却遭受到英格兰人忽视。

哈里斯离开后，毕斯凯接任，终于有2名华裔球员刘吉光与林灿耀进入国家队，其中2004年老虎杯，廖吉光表现不俗，助大马队打入4强。值得一提，廖吉光是华印混儿，但却是进入国家队最后2名华裔球员。

未来更不乐观
再过几年，华人球员在大马国家队消失几乎已是成了事实，因为目前国家队23岁以下、20岁以下与18岁以下，连一个华裔球员都没有。

Fast and Furious vs Easy steady.

As a result of the heavy downpour last week, today's match was a rematch. Semboyan fc is very young team and when you have youth on your side, naturally fitness and speed is your biggest asset. Add a touch of skill with it and you will have a decent squad. That is the observation of yours trully.

It was a sunny afternoon in Bangi. By the time i arrived, i have seen our guys ready and eager to take on the young boys. Our previous record with them was a 1-1 draw and and 0-4 loss. This team will ply their trade in the Selangor FA Super league division for next year having gained promotion this year. With a full squad turn out of 24, i knew they meant business. Seeing the way they did their pre-game warm up, i can tell they are a well drilled and discipline team. As for the guys of KL Wed, as usual, we treasured the social interaction more than winning the match. A totally different approach to the game.

Game started at 5:35 and within 10 minutes of play Semboyan scored. Stand in keeper Cikgu was still honeymooning when the goal went in off a header. The second goal was a blunder from Bullet having failed to clear the ball followed by Cikgu who kicked air. 0-2. Another mistake, 3rd goal came. 1st period, 3 ball.
Not much to say for the second and third period as we were totally dominated by the boys. New guy ah Chun replaced Cikgu as keeper for the 2nd and 3rd. He produced a fine safe tipping a clear goal. Other than that, no complain. We resorted to passing the ball within our own half and tried to frustrate them by holding possession. That was the suggestion from Batman and Swee D, because as commen sense tell us: what for we tried to attack and always lost possesion. better keep possession and reduced the damage, hoping for counter attack to score. Eventhough we tried this, still the goal came.

Semboyan scored two more to finish us 5-0.

Japan FC 3 - 0 KL Wed FC

The match was held when two third of KL Wednesday's regular players were either on holidays or having prior comittment for other matches.

We were really short of players for this game and after last ditch scramble for players we were forced to get help from non KL Wednesday fc players. In total out of the 13 who played..7 were guest players. We were so short of players that Luan luan Jao John was asked to stand in as goal mender as guest keeper Fat Eric Chong was stil caught in traffic jam near South City plaza. It was a non-cohesive gathering of players and not much teamwork were expected out of this match. True to the prediction, the entire match was literally a show of individuality rather than teamwork.
Although the match progressed not to our expectation, credit must also be given to our young opponent for their well organized play. It was their smart play of absorbing our rounds of attacks and relying on counter attack that worked well for them. They dully scored the opening goal after our rag tag defensive team were caught napping. Undaunted, we went into the 2nd period with fresh vigour and hope to pull one back. It was the other way round when again, in one of their counter attack, the local Chinese boys score again. By now, we can see the confidence level was growing in these young guys. Their play was getting the better of us and started to gain control of the midfield area. Our guys certainly looked out of sort and did not know what to do.
Third period resumed with the hope of narrowing the scoreline. However, again, the lack of creativity in midfield and dash upfront failed us. Another error in our defense,another goal. It was 0-3 in the end.

New Team Jersey

We are in the process of getting new jersey for the members. Guys who have attended matches regularly have been invited to submit their preferred size, number as well as preferred name. The response has been very well.

We have order 32 jerseys (which include 2 for keepers). It will be priced at RM60 each and for a start, we will keep these for the players and they will only need to pick it up during game time. For those who wanted to have one of this, they will have to let us know fast. You can choose not to put your name on the jersey but we will ultimately lend it to someone on the day in case it was a guest player. Of course, we will keep some spare ones.

As for our regular Wednesday matches, the attendence has been quite steady. Most of the time an average of 15 players would turn up. Not bad considering that it is a 5pm game on weekdays!
